Is there a minimum enrollment for this class?

Accepted Answer

A minimum of 4 students is required for the class to run. If minimum enrollment is not met, registered students will be contacted prior to class and given options for transferring to another class date or receiving a refund.

Not exactly! Sewing 100: Machine Confidence is designed to focus on learning your sewing machine and building the foundational skills you’ll need for future projects.You’ll spend plenty of time actually sewing and practicing skills like straight stitching, backstitching, pivoting, controlling your fabric, threading your machine, winding a bobbin, and troubleshooting common beginner issues.Rather than rushing to complete a project, the goal is for you to leave feeling more comfortable and confident at your machine. Once you’re ready, you can put those skills to use in our project-based sewing, bag-making, and beginner quilting classes!And yes—you can take Sewing 100 more than once if you’d like additional practice and guidance before moving on.

What experience level do I need?

None at all! Sewing 100: Machine Confidence is designed specifically for absolute beginners. Whether you’ve never touched a sewing machine or you’ve tried sewing before but still don’t feel confident using your machine on your own, this class is a great place to start.We’ll begin with the basics and give you plenty of hands-on practice, so there’s no need to know anything before you arrive.

Do you need to bring your own sewing machine?

No — we have a limited number of sewing machines available if you need one. If you do bring your own machine, we encourage you to bring the manual, power cord, foot pedal, and basic accessories so you feel ready to sew with confidence. Also - be sure to bring it if it's in working condition only.

What will I leave with after class?

You’ll leave with a better understanding of your sewing machine and hands-on practice with the foundational skills every sewist needs. You’ll practice threading your machine, winding and loading a bobbin, straight stitching, backstitching, pivoting, guiding fabric, and troubleshooting common beginner mistakes.Most importantly, you’ll leave feeling more comfortable and confident sitting down at your machine on your own — and better prepared to move into our project-based sewing, bag-making, and beginner quilting classes.

What should student's bring to class?

Just yourself and a willingness to learn! All classroom tools and practice materials are provided.If you’re bringing your own sewing machine, please bring the machine, power cord, foot pedal, and the basic accessories that came with it. If you don’t have a machine, a classroom machine is available at no additional charge.You’re also welcome to bring a drink or snack. We have a small kitchen area, coffee, and a place to keep things cold.

Can I take Sewing 100 more then one time?

Absolutely! Sewing confidence comes with practice, and you're welcome to take Sewing 100 more than once. Repeating the class gives you more time to practice, ask questions, troubleshoot problems, and become comfortable sewing independently. It's also a great way to build confidence before moving on to project classes, bag making, or quilting.

Is this class stressful or fast-paced?

Not at all. These classes are intentionally slow-paced, hands-on, and beginner-friendly. There’s no pressure to keep up — we meet you where you are. It’s meant to be relaxing, creative, and enjoyable, not overwhelming. If you or all of us are behind - no worries we will get you there at your speed!

Which ages are welcome in class?

Sewing 100 is open to ages 10 through adult. Teens and adults are absolutely welcome — this class is designed for beginners of all ages who want to become comfortable and confident using a sewing machine.Students under 10 may be considered on an individual basis. Please contact me before registering.
